Two people were taken into custody after a child was allegedly found locked in a dark room on their own.
Witnesses say the child was kept in the room that was the size of a cell with nothing but a bowl of water at a house in Salford, Greater Manchester. The child was taken to hospital to be checked over by doctors before being taken into care by the local social services.
Police were seen outside the house and a cordon was in place around the home yesterday. Greater Manchester Police confirmed that the couple had been released. A force statement read: ‘Police were called shortly after 10.40am on Thursday, October 3 following a report of an unaccompanied child at an address on Bolton Road.
‘Officers attended and a man aged 32 and a woman aged 30 were arrested on suspicion of child neglect at the scene a short time later. ‘They have been released under investigation. The child was uninjured and is in the care of children’s services. Enquiries are ongoing.’
