The Russian leader is believed to have a net worth of up to £150 billion, which would officially make him the richest man in the world, and is said to live a lifestyle more fitting of a celebrity A-lister than a head of state.
His personal fortune paves the way for a kingly fleet of cars, lavish yachts, presidential palaces and flings with athletes, models and socialites, according to reports.The president always talks down his wealth and the Kremlin firmly deny his exotic escapades.
Bill Browder, co-founder of the investment fund Hermitage Capital Management, is the one who claimed Putin’s wealth could be as much as £150 billion.
That would mean his fortune is nearly double that of Bill Gates’s of £78 billion, and would make him 33 times wealthier than rich wannabe presidential pal-Donald Trump.
Putin’s cash was claimed to come from energy investments and accusations of state corruption.
In dossiers drawn up by a political critic – Boris Nemtsov, who was shot dead in Moscow in 2015 – it is claimed Putin has four yachts placed around Russia.
One of those yachts is believed to be a– a claim the footie boss dismissed as “speculation and rumour”.
Nemtsov also claimed Putin has 43 planes and 15 helicopters at his use – including a Illyushin jet with a £111.3 million cabin which includes a £50,000 gold toilet.
The 63-year-old’s palaces were also identified in the now-assassinated critic’s bombshell document.
Along with villas and other residences – the Russia leader is said to have 20 at his disposal, including secretive forested retreats, seaside summer houses, and a VIP resort in the mountains.
The crown jewel, dubbed simply Putin’s Palace, is a large complex on the Black Sea estimated to be worth £762 million – believed to have been personally commissioned by Vlad.
Dmitry Peskov, Putin’s personal spokesman, said: “Putin has never had any relationship to this palace.”
