Awka—THE Independent Democrats, ID, one of the country’s registered political parties, has scored President Muhammadu Buhari 95% performance in the South East, arguing that he had done more for the zone than any other leader since the present democratic dispensation.Vanguard reports that, National chairman of the party, Mr. Edozie Madu, who gave the score during the party’s Anambra State congress in Awka, said that there had never been a time work was going on simultaneously on all federal roads in the South East as it is going on now.
According to him, work was progressing on the Enugu-Onitsha, Enugu-Port Harcourt, Oba-Nnewi-Okigwe federal roads, adding that the zone had also not lagged behind in other empowerment programmes of the Buhari administration.
Madu said that the best way to appreciate the president was to give him maximum support, to enable him do more for the people of the zone.
He expressed happiness with the growth of democracy in the country, attributing it to the maturity of President Buhari.
He also commended Governor Willie Obiano for creating an enabling environment for investments to thrive in the state and urged the people of the state to support the state government.
At the congress, Mr. Omife Omife emerged the state chairman of the party by defeating Arinze Okwudili by 207 votes to 77, while Okechukwu Ilomuanya emerged the deputy chairman by defeating Evans Ihesi by 172 votes to 151.
Others elected were Uchenna Peter (publicity secretary), G.C. Okeke (treasurer), Stanley Mbanaso (legal adviser) and Charles Iwezue (financial secretary).
