Liverpool could be facing the possibility of being in the ‘group of death’ in the Champions League next season due to their low seeding in Europe.
Last season’s finalists could be grouped with Barcelona or Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan in a worst case scenario as they look to go one better than last time and win the whole tournament.
While talk of a potential group of death would scare some fans, many Liverpool supporters are taking it in their stride by claiming that that other teams should be fearful of them.
Many Reds fans pointed out that no matter where they were seeded, whether it was pot two or three, they would be comfortably at least the second best side in the group whatever it ended up looking like.
Others remained confident on Twitter that having the deadly trio of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino would be a nightmare for other sides in Europe.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are currently waiting on Benfica’s result with Fenerbahce to see what pot they will end up in.
Should Benfica lose to their Turkish opponents, then Liverpool will move up into pot two.
However, a win for Benfica would mean they face either Ajax or Standard Liege in the final qualifying stage.
If the Portuguese side fail to advance, Klopp’s men would end up in pot two, while a a win for Benfica condemns the Premier League outfit to pot three.
