England’s most successful football club

Manchester United added another major honour to their enviable collection on Sunday evening after a dramatic 3-2 victory over Southampton.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s late header secured EFL Cup success at Wembley, with the Red Devils displaying commendable fighting spirit to get their hands on the silverware.

Having thrown away a two-goal lead, they fought hard and gave a tactical display to win it late to become England’s most successful football club with 20 league cup titles, 12 FA cups, 5 League Cups, 3 champions League Cups, 2 Club World Cups, making it a total of 42 major titles just one above archrivals Liverpool.

They were, however, to have the last word and spark wild celebrations, both on the field and behind the scenes in the dressing room.

Paul Pogba was caught in the wild celebration, with the Frenchman also part of an impromptu sing-along alongside compatriot Anthony Martial. Marcos Rojo and Luke Shaw – who was left out of the English Football League Cup final day squad – got stuck into the post-match buffet!

While they had every right to lap up a cup final triumph over the Saints, United must redirect their focus quickly as the games continue to come thick and fast.

They are back in Premier League action on Saturday lunchtime against Bournemouth, before their attention will be shifted to pursue further honours in Europa League and FA Cup competition.
