Tragedy struck at the National Assembly, yesterday, Clerk to the House of Representatives Committee on Agricultural Production Services, Mr. Mohammed Shuaibu, slumped and died on the premises.
It was learned that the deceased, who was about 55 years old, drove himself to work, ahead of a scheduled meeting of the committee.
Vanguard gathered that he was in his office preparing for the meeting when he reportedly complained of discomfort and slumped almost immediately.
He was promptly rushed to the National Assembly Clinic, but doctors confirmed him dead on arrival. A source told Vanguard:
“We are all in shock. He returned from Zaria (Kaduna State) yesterday (Sunday), drove himself to work this morning (yesterday) and was looking healthy.”
The Director of Informa-tion and Publications at the National Assembly, Mr. Dibal Ishaku, confirmed the incident.
He said:“Yes, our colleague has died. We don’t know what happened. The body has been taken back to Zaria.” Chairman of the committee, Mr. Mohammed Monguno, also confirmed the death of his clerk. He said:
“He was a hard-working officer, who was deployed to the committee about one year ago.”
