President Muhammadu Buhari was on Monday during his presidential campaign rally in Ogun State embarrassed by aggrieved members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The supporters threw stones and sachet water at Buhari and other APC political heavyweights who attended the rally.
The shameful incident happened immediately after Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State handed over the microphone to Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, the National Chairman of the APC.
The governor had repeatedly stated that although he would work for the re-election of President Buhari, he would however work against the APC governorship candidate in the state.
Amosun anti-party activities came after the National leadership of the APC rejected his candidate, Adekunle Akinlade, as the party’s governorship candidate in the state.
Akinlade is now the governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
“Come Saturday, let us go out to vote for President Buhari and on March 2, let us look elsewhere. I hope you understand me and get my message. And let it be known to you all, after the March 2 poll, we shall all become APC again,’ Amosun said.
As the APC Chairman received the microphone to begin his speech, aggrieved party supporters started throwing stones at the podium to disrupt the programme.
Mr. Amosun had to beg the disruptive party members to stop their action.
“Please in the name of God, it is enough, don’t disgrace me, God will not destroy your work, please don’t destroy my work,” the governor begged.
APC chieftains including Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Nation Leader of APC; his right hand man, Bisi Akande; Olusegun Osoba, Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, who were at the podium had to flee.
After the aggrieved supporters calm down, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo spoke about the agenda of the party for second term.
Osinbajo further called on party supporters to ensure that the party was returned at all levels.
But the APC supporters are clearly against the party’s governorship candidate as they shouted ‘No, No, No’ and threw objects at President Buhari who raised the hand of the APC governorship candidate.
