Senator-elect Ike Ekweremadu has been nominated for the seat of Deputy Senate President in the 9th National Assembly.
Globaltake News understands that the Ekweremadu’s nomination was made by Senator Chukwuka Utazi and seconded by Senator Rose Oko for the motion.
Meanwhile, the former deputy Senate president, Ike Ekweremadu, in his reaction, congratulated Lawan for becoming the Senate president.
Ekweremadu accepted the nomination and will now contest against the All Progressives Congress candidate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.
As at the time of filing this report, the election for the position was still on-going on the floor of the Senate chamber.
