After over six months of searching, are Chelsea about to sign another striker?
Alvaro Morata joined Chelsea from Real Madrid in the summer, however it’s been clear for a long time that Antonio Conte wants more options up top.
Last summer Chelsea tried and failed to sign Fernando Llorente. He joined Tottenham.
In the current transfer window, the Pensioners have been linked to some questionable deals. That’s included claims that West Ham’s Andy Carroll or Stoke’s Peter Crouch could move to Stamford Bridge.
Yet, on Sunday morning, belief is boosted that Roma duo Edin Dzeko and Emerson Palmieri are about to sign deals with the Blues.
Dzeko, of course, is well versed in Premier League football.
The 31-year-old Bosnian centre-forward spent five years at Man City from 2011 to 2016.
This season Dzeko has scored 12 goals in 26 matches in all competitions.
And who is Emerson Palmieri? He’s a 23-year-old Brazilian left-back who would plug another hole in Conte’s squad.
On Sunday morning Fabrizio Romano – who often writes for the Guardian – has taken to social media to report on Chelsea’s moves for the Roma pair.
In great news for Blues fans it’s claimed that Edin Dzeko and Emerson Palmieri have both “accepted” offers for Chelsea.
With the personal contracts wrapped up, focus is shifted on whether Chelsea can convince Roma to sell.
Fabrizio Romano notes that a €50 million offer for the Roma twosome was rejected, so Chelsea have to up their offer next week.
