Unknown gunmen, according to reports, abducted a man, Moses Yakubu, his fiancee, five friends and family members in Akunnu Akoko, in the Akoko North-East Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The reports by PUNCH METRO disclosed that the victims, whose identities are yet to be known, were abducted on their way to Akure for an engagement ceremony.
The man, Yakubu and his fiancée were to be engaged in Akure on Sunday.
However, the reports revealed that the victims who were in the company of friends and some family members were kidnapped on their way to Akure from Okene, Kogi State.
“The kidnappers stopped their vehicle in Akunu and asked them to get out of the vehicle before dragging them into the bush”, Punch revealed.
The fiancee and her sister were later released, leaving other victims in the custody of the kidnappers.
As at the time of the report, the abductors were yet to contact the families of the victims.
However, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Femi Joseph, said that the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Gbenga Adeyanju, has led a team to the area in search of the victims.
The state police command promises that the victims will be rescued unhurt and the perpetrators arrested.
