FA Rejects Liverpool’s Appeal Insist On Three-Match Ban For Mane

Sadio Mane to serve three-match ban for Manchester City sending off after FA reject Reds appeal

Liverpool forward Sadio Mane will serve a three-match suspension for his red card at Manchester City, the Football Association has confirmed.

The Senegalese winger was sent off for catching City goalkeeper Ederson in the face with a high boot during his side’s 5-0 defeat at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

Liverpool appealed against the length of the ban, with both the player and boss Jurgen Klopp insisting the challenge was not intentional.

But the FA have rejected their appeal and the Reds’ star will sit out the club’s next three domestic games.

A statement from the Football Association on Tuesday said: “Sadio Mane’s three-match suspension, which was effective immediately, remains in place after his claim of excessive punishment was rejected following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing.
