Liverpool’s comfortable win has meant that they ended Group H with 23 goals scored in just six games – the most any English side has scored in the group stage in Champions League history.

The previous record was set by Manchester United in 1998 when Sir Alex Ferguson’s side scored 20 goals in their group which included Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Brondby.

United went on to win the Champions League that season which completed their historic treble.
