A statement from the club on Tuesday revealed: ‘Striker Alexandre Lacazette had an arthroscopy on his left knee in London on Tuesday morning.
The minor surgery was a success but the former Lyon star must now undergo a period of rehabilitation.
Lacazette is expected to be out for between four to six weeks, meaning he will miss Arsenal’s Europa League round of 32 clash with Ostersunds.
The Gunners travel to Sweden for the first leg this week before the return fixture on Thursday February 22.
New signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is inegiblibe for the competition, meaning Danny Welbeck may lead the line.
